Foot reflexology & wellness therapy

During my personal search for alternatives to medication, I discovered the valuable world of aromatherapy. During this process, I learnt about the enriching properties of pure essential oils, which can benefit both the body and the mind.

This discovery then led me to foot reflexology, a therapeutic approach that focuses on the connections between reflex points on feet and organs and other areas of the body.

The subsequent step to the Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) went like clockwork. Again, various therapies are applied to meridians and acupuncture points to improve the self-healing power of the body to promote and maintain (prevention).

The holistic nature of these therapies has provided me with new insights into natural remedies, which eventually led to a passion.

Through my own experience with these healing modalities, I feel inspired to help others find natural and holistic ways to promote their well-being. As a result, I am determined to share my experiences and guide others on their own path to health and balance.

I strongly believe in the power of holistic approaches and am determined to help others achieve their health goals.

Foot reflexology

Foot reflexology is a therapy in which pressure is applied to specific points on the feet (and where necessary on hands or ears), also called reflex points, to promote healing and balance in the body.

The theory behind reflexology is that it reflex points correspond to different organs and systems in the body and by applying pressure to them, the corresponding organs and systems can be stimulated to promote balance and improve overall health.

Foot reflexology sessions usually start with a consultation to discuss any health problems or concerns the client may have. The client lies down on a massage table or recliner and the reflexologist applies pressure to the reflex points using fingers and thumbs.

Advantages of foot reflexology are: stress reduction, improved circulation, reduced pain and tension, improved sleep and improved general well-being.

However, it is important to note that foot reflexology should not be used as a substitute for medical treatment.

Foot reflexology is a very useful complementary care.

Baby reflexology

Baby reflexology is a special form of reflexology originally developed to create a deeper connection between parent and baby.

However, research showed that it is also effective in relieving and remedying various complaints and symptoms in babies.

This technique stimulates the baby's immune system making them less susceptible to diseases. It can be applied to babies as early as 4 weeks old and can be continued even when the baby starts crawling (transition to toddler reflexology).

Compared to baby massage, baby reflexology has a targeted approach, treating specific parts of the feet or hands (in toddlers) to promote relaxation in corresponding organs. It goes deeper than massage and activates the body's self-healing ability by releasing blockages.

Baby reflexology is very flexible and can be applied anywhere, while baby massage often requires a warm environment and more time.

The benefits of baby reflexology are twofold. Oxytocin (cuddle hormone) is released during treatment, which benefits both the giver and the baby.

Baby reflexology can provide relief for various complaints such as teething, colds, sleep problems, digestive problems and reflux.

Fibromyssage

Fibromyalgia or 'soft tissue rheumatism' is a condition associated with severe muscle pain and stiffness in the body. Characteristically, the pain mainly occurs on 18 specific pain points, which we call tender points. This condition puts the body under constant stress, which in turn leads to symptoms such as insomnia, difficulty concentrating, weakened immune system, intestinal problems, headaches and gloomy and anxious feelings.

Fibromyssage is a specific form of massage aimed at relieving pain and reducing symptoms in people with fibromyalgia.

The fibromyssage technique is designed to use gentle, slow and deep massage techniques to reduce muscle tension, improve circulation, relax trigger points (often found at tender points) and promote overall wellbeing. The emphasis is on targeting specific painful areas and relieving muscle tension without applying too much pressure or intensity, as people with fibromyalgia are often more sensitive to pain.

Fibromyssage can involve various massage techniques, such as gentle rubbing, kneading, stroking and stretching, adapted to the individual needs and comfort level of the person with fibromyalgia.

The aim is to alleviate symptoms, promote relaxation and improve quality of life for people suffering from this chronic condition.

It is important that massage is performed by an experienced and trained massage therapist who is familiar with fibromyalgia and can apply the right techniques to help reduce symptoms.

At Aromanos, this massage is given by a therapist who, in addition to training, acts on his own experiences and research and has been living with this diagnosis himself for years. This ensures a deeper understanding when communicating with the therapist and carrying out treatment.          #fibrowarrior

Practical:

Experience has shown that it is not natural for a person with fibromyalgia to sit or lie in the same position for long periods of time. Therefore, a session will last a maximum of half an hour. Longer sessions are strongly discouraged to avoid overstimulation and cramping.

The intake interview, together with an initial treatment lasts one hour.

Please note that this intake interview is necessary as a first appointment. This is to discuss your specific experiences and needs in an open conversation and apply an individual approach in the treatment plan.

TCM Meridian Cupping

There are several variations of cupping massages, but each method involves creating a vacuum on the skin. This vacuum pulls the skin and underlying connective tissue into the cup resulting in improved blood flow, removal of waste products, supply of nutrients and loosening of any adhesions.

The cups remain in one spot for up to 15 minutes. The skin shows discolouration, ranging from red to dark blue. Cupping stimulates the body to send extra white blood cells to the treated spot, which promotes the healing process.

Cupping massages can stand alone or be part of other massages.

Cupping is effective for different complaints, depending on the type of massage and the body part treated. Some complaints where cupping is effective:

  • Neck pain
  • Headache complaints
  • Shoulder pain
  • Back pain
  • Muscle injuries
  • Cellulite
  • Connective tissue adhesions
  • Fibromyalgia
  • Striae
  • Energy blockages

Meridian cupping
Cups and magnetic cups are used to work on meridian pathways and their acupuncture points in order to reduce movement restrictions and pain on a therapeutic way to dissolve and restore energy and blood flow. It is a powerful treatment with both physical and energetic effects.
