“Hello! My name is Luz, and I graduated from the Vrije Universiteit Brussel (VUB) as a clinical psychologist.
My heart and interest lie in supporting children, young people and their support network. As they grow up, children may face various challenges. Together with them and their families, I explore ways to better understand these difficulties, build on their existing strengths and find strategies that meet their developmental needs.
I am committed to open and collaborative working, where there is room for everyone’s story and background. In my counselling, I place great importance on building a warm and safe relationship based on trust, in which you feel heard and understood. I work from a systemic perspective, looking at children in terms of their development and the context in which they are growing up. In doing so, I use creative and experiential methods that are in tune with their everyday lives.
During my placement, I supported young people at various stages of development and explored topics such as emotional regulation, social skills, self-image and academic development. This naturally involves the whole family. Together with parents, I explore ways to understand entrenched dynamics and patterns of interaction and to rebuild connections, whilst taking into account each person’s unique needs and strengths.
I also took a course on Non-Violent Resistance/New Authority, an approach that supports parents, teachers and care workers in being there for children in a way that is both connecting and steadfast, without resorting to conflict or feeling powerless.
You can come to me for psychological counselling, where we’ll work together to find insights and strategies that suit your needs!”
