Biography
Sport was ever present in Sophie’s life. At one point, she had to choose between soccer, scouts, music and judo and resolutely chose hard judo.
Here she was 5 x in a row Belgian champion in the youth and 2x 3rd in the seniors. She was also always in the Belgian selection where she took podiums at several foreign tournaments and placed 5th at the European Championships in Oradea (Romania).
It was almost obvious that Sophie graduated as a licentiate in physical education (VUB 2006) so she also has a diploma in personal trainer in her pocket and also obtained a trainer B diploma in judo (Zele 2009).
Since judo brought her into regular contact with physical therapists, she became fascinated with this profession. She also wanted to get people back on track after an overuse, surgery or injury.
Sophie continued her studies in sports physical therapy (VUB 2009) and is now mainly a physical therapist at the Healthcube multidisciplinary center in Tervuren and coordinator of Sportscube VZW. She also has a lot of experience as a sports coach at various institutions such as the top sports school for volleyball in Vilvoorde, KVWZ (3rd national soccer) and the WU19 in the KBVB.
Continuous training to better serve people and athletes is top priority. The last important continuing education courses were crochetage, dry needling (smarteducation, 2017) and orofascial pain and disorders (IPVK at UZ Gent 2017 – 2018).
She prefers to empower her patients in a personal way as well as in an active way through functional exercises.
